The Good, the Bad, and the...Awkward

Open seating or assigned seating?
Chicken dance or electric slide? or neither?

Think of other weddings you've been to...what have you loved about them? Hated about them? You don't have to share whose weddings they were, but we'll take your thoughts into consideration when planning our own wedding and reception.

  • Don't get a d.j. that totally takes over the wedding. I think mimi knows how to handle this one, but just making sure.

  • GET A D.J.!!!! Use Walt McNeil. He is out of Erie and works full time at the fermie plant. He's the one that did ours. He was great. He knew what to do, when to get it done, and actually got people out on the dance floor. He is pricey, but so worth it. I think if you mention our names he gives a discount. And, he will not play music that you...the bride and groom do not want to be played. I did not want YMCA played, so it wasn't, despite the requests he had for it. I am pretty sure he is listed in the erie phone book. But if you need it, I could tell Shallon he has to go back up in the attic and find my wedding planner. Or, give his mom a call, i think she still has it in her phone book. Happy Planning!

  • Chicken dance over electric slide anytime.

One suggestion. We had decided against doing the "dollar dance" at our wedding because we thought it was tacky. We changed our mind at the last minute though, and were very glad we did. With all of the craziness it was hard to get around and talk to everyone, so it was a great chance to talk 1 on 1 with everyone (of the opposite sex, anyway) (and a few others!) for about a minute. You can take the 'dollar' part out of it if you want and do something more creative, but I really enjoyed that part.

can't wait to get on that boat. (Any jokes yet about the marriage not starting off on solid ground?)

  • Thanks for the suggestion on the chicken dance...we've also heard from some who say that we should go with the cha-cha slide over the regular electric slide. We'll see, Brian is pretty anti-gimick songs. Keep the suggestions coming...this category is important!
